Every listing on Nomad Stays uses one of four cancellation policies, chosen by the host and shown on the listing page and again at checkout before you pay. The policy that applied to your specific stay is also shown on your booking confirmation. This page describes what each policy means in general; the exact refund for a booking you've already made is always shown on that booking's page.
Flexible — Full refund until 24 hours before check-in. After that, host keeps the first night (no-show) or nights stayed plus one extra night (mid-stay cancellation).
Moderate — Full refund until 5 days before check-in. After that, host gets nights stayed plus one extra night plus 50% of the remaining unspent nights.
Limited — Full refund until 14 days before check-in. 50% back 7-14 days out, no refund inside 7 days.
Firm — Full refund until 30 days before check-in. 50% back 7-30 days out, no refund inside 7 days.
If a host declines a booking request, lets it expire without responding, or cancels a confirmed booking, the guest is refunded in full — the cancellation policy above only applies when the guest is the one cancelling.
When a guest cancels and a refund is issued, Stripe's own card-processing fee on the original payment (a small percentage of the amount paid) is deducted from the refund, since that fee isn't returned to us either. This doesn't apply when the host or Nomad Stays cancels the booking — in that case the guest gets 100% back, including the processing fee.
A security deposit, where a listing requires one, is always refunded in full if you cancel before check-in, regardless of the listing's cancellation policy. A deposit is only ever withheld if the host makes a claim against it after your stay, and only through the Resolution Center, where both sides can present their side before a decision is made.
If you believe a refund was calculated incorrectly, or a host is disputing a deposit, open a ticket from your booking page and our support team will review it.
